| Went for a drive on my brother's car today to see how much the city changed since the last time I've been here...It changed a lot! It's fun driving manual on ice-covered snowy roads :) On our way, I once again was re-assured that Russian girls really are the best and prettiest in the world!!! *Heart beats faster*
Anyway, here's a picture of where the car that we had to un-park was:
We didn't touch any of those cars nearby, yet safely managed to do the planned. How? It's impossible to explain...
Then I helped to scrub the thick layer of pure solid ice from the windshields and other important parts of the car...It just gets completely covered with ice overnight...took us quite some time to do that, and there were 3 of us!

Gotta free the phone line...Later.

| Day 01. Well, hey there. I am in Russia :) Total time from when I left my apartment in Dallas to my entry into my room here: 22 hours If you add 9-hours difference: 31 hours wasted (well, spent in travel, which is the same thing basically)
I flew Lufthansa, which is a really nice company. They were my 13th and 14th flights total. Whatever once might say about airplane food, i had a good one. For dinner I had choice of pasta or beans, I took pasta; for breakfast - omelette (and salads for both of course). Flight lasted 9:40 hours, I tried to sleep, but never really got the chance. Two movies were shown - "Around the world in 80 days (with Jackie Chan)" AND "Spiderman" (1 or 2, missed the title). Didn't really like spiderman: guy finds girl, guy loses girl, guy gets girl back, all is well...
Since we flew toward the night, we had complete darkness outside at around 5 p.m. central. You should have seen the stars - clear, big, and really great. Some hours later there was a sunrise - above the clouds - really a breathtaking experience I must say...I just wish there was some nice girl sitting beside me then, to share all of it..but didn't happen :(
Second flight was around 3 hours, we had beef with something, and a nice desert. It was a really fun flight, wish I could tell you more about it, but I think I shouldn't :) !
Then we landed in Moscow. It was snowing, and it was cold! I must say - I am a beast! I carried those suitcases like nothing you've seen before...should see my hands now - sore, swollen, rough, but strong! Anyway, then we drove for 4 hours from airport to my hometown, got lost several times in the dark on icy roads without any marks separating lanes...scary? Yes! Fun? You have no idea how much! Picked some really nice girls on our way to keep us company, but they started to get too close and we had to throw them out of the car :).
Got home, started unpacking. Then we celebrated, ate some unbelievably good food. Still unpacking today, then probably going to go to my old school, but more about it later. I miss DSL!!! I have 33.6 here...and it takes up phone line, write some more later...
P.S. Went to help un-park the car this morning, and let me tell you, you have no idea what it's like! It's really freezing, first of all, I mean very cold. Went out, and the freeze bit me in the butt, i started shaking, teeth started clanking, body started convulsing in desperate attempts to generate at least some heat :) Do you think it's possible to drive a manual-transmission car in winter? Almost not, but russians do it :) (Go us! ) How about going rear on the same car on ice, when there is car to your left and right, 1 inch between your car and them, and one car behind you? Well, we did it. Had to push it perpendicular to the wheels on ice at some point, but since it's really slippery, 3 of us could do it. In other words, more writings later, I have so much to say :)!!!!!! SNOW! (Will post some pics once I resize them)
BTW, just kidding about those girls in the car - we had no room left :) !

| I miss some of my friends already, even though I have not left yet... So before I leave, I want to post here something I wrote several minutes ago. *Cough* (Clears throat). Dedicated to my friends and everyone I know:
"Reflection on the passed year" by me.
My thoughts start rushing as if there was no tomorrow, When it gets still and you see lowering twilight. In candle light, my "Parker"* starts to write of sorrow, And rustling paper breaks the silence of the night.
Why is it always true that amidst many people, Those who are closest and most dear do not return? (Lone stingy tear falls in a cup of a tea with ripple). But life goes on and often there's no time to mourn.
I've changed, despite the all new challenges and comforts, Failed to preserve what I once held as true. I now became a better man, a better person, And much of it, my friends, I owe to you.
In times of hardship and delight you stand beside me, And very often we would share both laugh and tears. Unknowingly, you help my strengths go beyond limits. For all your help I will be thankful many years.
Life is a game...But mine is neither plain nor fair, Important things that seemed so clear turn into fog. I have to ballance on the rope that's thin like hair, Trying to figure out where I've done some wrong.
I had my share, but I get tired of this puzzle, One day I will announce to troubles: "Go to Hell!!! It's now not very long till Christmas!". As for others, Between New Years the months are also only dozen... Good laugh have those who're laughing at the very end. --------------- * "Parker" - "Parker"-brand fountain pen.

| Ummm...4 suitcases, around 65 pounds each, plus carry-on luggage, and I am the only one to carry them. If I don't crush my back by the time of luggage check-in, it will be a realy good work-out. Anyway, I hope the ariport will not be closed due to weather conditions, because I am pretty sure that the only thing I'll want to do when I get home is to take a hot bath. | | |
