| | Day 01. Well, hey there. I am in Russia :) Total time from when I left my apartment in Dallas to my entry into my room here: 22 hours If you add 9-hours difference: 31 hours wasted (well, spent in travel, which is the same thing basically)
I flew Lufthansa, which is a really nice company. They were my 13th and 14th flights total. Whatever once might say about airplane food, i had a good one. For dinner I had choice of pasta or beans, I took pasta; for breakfast - omelette (and salads for both of course). Flight lasted 9:40 hours, I tried to sleep, but never really got the chance. Two movies were shown - "Around the world in 80 days (with Jackie Chan)" AND "Spiderman" (1 or 2, missed the title). Didn't really like spiderman: guy finds girl, guy loses girl, guy gets girl back, all is well...
Since we flew toward the night, we had complete darkness outside at around 5 p.m. central. You should have seen the stars - clear, big, and really great. Some hours later there was a sunrise - above the clouds - really a breathtaking experience I must say...I just wish there was some nice girl sitting beside me then, to share all of it..but didn't happen :(
Second flight was around 3 hours, we had beef with something, and a nice desert. It was a really fun flight, wish I could tell you more about it, but I think I shouldn't :) !
Then we landed in Moscow. It was snowing, and it was cold! I must say - I am a beast! I carried those suitcases like nothing you've seen before...should see my hands now - sore, swollen, rough, but strong! Anyway, then we drove for 4 hours from airport to my hometown, got lost several times in the dark on icy roads without any marks separating lanes...scary? Yes! Fun? You have no idea how much! Picked some really nice girls on our way to keep us company, but they started to get too close and we had to throw them out of the car :).
Got home, started unpacking. Then we celebrated, ate some unbelievably good food. Still unpacking today, then probably going to go to my old school, but more about it later. I miss DSL!!! I have 33.6 here...and it takes up phone line, write some more later...
P.S. Went to help un-park the car this morning, and let me tell you, you have no idea what it's like! It's really freezing, first of all, I mean very cold. Went out, and the freeze bit me in the butt, i started shaking, teeth started clanking, body started convulsing in desperate attempts to generate at least some heat :) Do you think it's possible to drive a manual-transmission car in winter? Almost not, but russians do it :) (Go us! ) How about going rear on the same car on ice, when there is car to your left and right, 1 inch between your car and them, and one car behind you? Well, we did it. Had to push it perpendicular to the wheels on ice at some point, but since it's really slippery, 3 of us could do it. In other words, more writings later, I have so much to say :)!!!!!! SNOW! (Will post some pics once I resize them)
BTW, just kidding about those girls in the car - we had no room left :) !
